4th of July is called the Independence Day because on this day, in the year 1776, America was declared independent of Great Britain. A very detailed decree was written, with the decisions of the colonies that they no longer would need to be governed by the Kings of England that had been so very unjust to the colonists in the years before.
Therefore every year on July 4th we celebrate the fact that we are a free nation that is not under the rule of another. But, there is more to the celebration of independence than just the fact that this is the birthday of the United States. It is the celebration of history, government, and traditions of the country with fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, political speeches and ceremonies, and various other public and private events.
Like every American holiday, July 4th is quickly becoming more about food because Americans love associating holidays with food. On this day, we all love to get in the red, white, and blue or say our anthem “The Star-Spangled Banner” while arranging family picnics or barbecues.
